not many places in the league do you get to stick around despite never winning a playoff series

I agree,

However, the Rangers have a long history of bad general managers lasting a long time and damaging the franchise too. At least these people seem to know what they are doing.

Let us hope that if Breadman actually turns his back on a mega contract with a franchise and fan base that wants him badly, they can replace him with an equal or better player next summer.

You are absolutely right on Paul; Jackets are in good hands for years to come! Great news!

not sure what that means ,if Jarmo was not renewed i'd be convinced he can land a job pretty rapidly elsewhere , his track record , with Bill Zeto has been what the Jackets needed since the Maclean era .....

If what you say about Breadman comes to pass, he leaves - the Operations Staff can't wait until next summer to bring in a replacement.

My feeling is to do it now, when the leverage is there. The closer he gets to UFA status, the less leverage the CBJ have in trade talks. Panarin has already limited the leverage CBJ has by saying he won't sign an extension, and wants a bigger, better city.
It's like ripping off a bandaid - do it quickly, all at once, and the pain is also short. Dragging it out only prolongs the pain.

i liked what jarmo and davidson were building in st louis and like the core in columbus. they could get hired anywhere if they became free agents.

Truth. Columbus is lucky to have the staff that they do, imho.
